Options
If you believe you may be experiencing sexual harassment, a number of options are available to address your concerns.

University policy does not require that persons who believe they have been victims of sexual harassment file a formal complaint.  Some persons prefer to try to resolve the matter on their own.  Nothing in University policy prevents such self-resolution.  Other persons prefer to report their concerns to the University.  Resources are available from the Information Centers with respect to all options.

For Students
Resolve without making a report:  The Office of the Dean of Students assists students in exploring options for resolving concerns without making a report to a complaint resolution officer.  Resolutions have included assisting students in obtaining new housing or new roommates, dropping courses, or changing sections.

Report to a Complaint Resolution Officer:  Sexual harassment is a violation of the University of California Policy on Sexual Harassment which may lead to disciplinary action against a harasser.  Possible violations can be reported by contacting a Complaint Resolution Officer under UCLA procedure 630.1:  Responding to Reports of Sexual Harassment.  The Dean’s Office and the Title IX Officer can assist with information about reporting a possible policy violation.  Further information about available procedures is available from any of the Information Centers.

File a Grievance:  Students who feel they have been subjected to sexual harassment and are unsatisfied with efforts to resolve their concerns or with the outcome of a report made under UCLA Procedure 630.1 may file a grievance under UCLA Procedure 230.1:  Student Grievances Regarding Violation of Anti-discrimination Laws or University Policies on Sex, Ethnic or Disability Discrimination.  Further information about the grievance procedure is available at http://www.adminvc.ucla.edu/appm/public/230-1.htm.

For Staff
Resolve without making a report:  Options for resolving concerns without making a report can be explored by contacting department management or the Ombuds Office.
