Individuals
seeking information, counseling and assistance are encouraged to contact
one of the campus Sexual Harassment Information Centers or the
Office of Ombuds Services. The Office of Ombuds Services can also provide confidential mediation.
Sexual Harassment Information Centers
The role of Sexual Harassment Information Centers is to provide information
and advice. They can provide information and counseling with respect
to UCLA policies and procedures and they can provide counseling and
assistance in attempting to deal directly with the harasser. They
do not investigate or assist with resolution of harassment claims.
A person who contacts a Sexual Harassment Information Center
and wants to protect the confidentiality of their inquiry should not
reveal the name of an alleged harasser or any identifying information
(such as title or department). In the event that the name
or other identifying information of an alleged harasser is revealed,
the Sexual Harassment Information Center Advisor is required to forward
relevant information to a Fact-Finder.
The Office of Ombuds Services
The
Office of Ombuds Services, in addition to offering information and counseling, can
also assist with resolution of complaints (such as mediation). All
inquiries to the Office of Ombuds Services are confidential, to the extent permitted
by law, unless the person providing the information agrees to have
it shared with others; the office does not reveal any identifying
information about the inquiry, the parties, or any resolution. It
is the policy of the Office of Ombuds Services to vigorously seek to protect the
confidentiality of all communications, even in the context of legal
proceedings. |
